PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press felt for paper-manufacturing use, durable, excellent in exchange workability, accurately controlled in resin distribution therein, and having an optimized resin layer, and to provide a method for producing the press felt for paper-manufacturing use. SOLUTION: The press felt 20 for paper-manufacturing use includes: a ground fabric layer 21; and an obverse batting layer 22 disposed on the paper-manufacturing face side; wherein the obverse batting layer 22 has a thermoplastic resin 28 disposed therein and solidified after melt-dispersed, the thermoplastic resin 28 being such that the viscosity is 100-7,000 Pa s when fluidized at a temperature higher than the melting point but lower than 180°C. The method for producing the press felt for paper-manufacturing use includes: a laminating step of obtaining a laminate 10 with a ground fabric material 11, a first batting layer material 12b, a thermoplastic resin layer 15, and a second batting layer material 12a interlaced in this order; and a dispersion step of heating and melting the thermoplastic resin and dispersing the thus molten thermoplastic resin in the batting layer material 12 and solidifying it.
