<p>The invention provides a method of teaching touch typing to a student. The method comprises displaying to the student a representation of a keyboard having a plurality of data input keys, at least some of the keys shown as base keys, each base key associated with two or more of the data input keys shown as directional codes. The method further comprises displaying to the student one or more representations of distinct symbols representing respective objects, the name of each object associated with respective data input keys.
