Class 39(1) [Also in Group XXIII] An alkali-metal, especially caesium, vapour lamp has an envelope of hard lime glass coated internally with a glass which resists attack by caesium vapour at temperatures of from 400‹ to 600‹C. The resistant glass, which is of the ternary system CaOAl 2 O 3 -B 2 O 3 (see Group XXIII), is applied to the envelope by coating with a suspension of the powdered glass in a nitrocellulose butyl acetate medium, the coating then being glazed by firing with a hydrogen-air flame.
