PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus that displays a guide map depending on the situation without being limited to color number. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus includes a map data memory 11a for storing map data including a guide map storage location pointer 20 in data showing the guide point, a guide map data memory 11b for storing a plurality of guide map data for drawing different scenes as a guide map for one guide point, a position detection unit 13 for detecting current location, a situation acquisition unit 14 for acquiring current situation, a processing unit 17 which acquires guide map data associated with the situation acquired by the situation acquisition unit from location of the guide map data memory shown by the guide map storage location pointer of a guide point when the detected current location has reached the guide point shown by the map data acquired from the map data memory, and then synthesizes the guide map data with the map data to generate display data, and a display output unit 15 for displaying maps and guide maps based on the display data generated by the processing unit.
