PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp-lighting device and a lighting apparatus, in which workability is excellent and further execution cost reduction can be achieved. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp-lighting device 10 and the lighting apparatus 10 include ballast cases 11, 12 which are constructed of metal or resin case and are fixed to an apparatus body 81. Supporting means 14, 15, 87, 88 which support the ballast cases 11, 12 movably along the longitudinal direction and support at a prescribed position are provided between the ballast cases and the apparatus body 81.
