The instrument has a handle arranged on a proximal end of a hollow shaft (2). A tool (4) is arranged on a distal end of the shaft. The tool includes a pivotable jaw part (4b) that is pivotable with respect to a rigid jaw part (4a). The pivotable jaw part and a pivotable gripping part are in active relation with one another by an actuation element (5) mounted in the shaft. An indentation (7) is formed as a trough in the rigid jaw part, where the indentation is open toward the pivotable jaw part and is covered only in a center area by the pivotable jaw part in a closed position of the tool.
