An apparatus (12) for measuring a static pressure inside a component (18) is provided. The apparatus (12) includes a housing (20) coupled to the component (14), the housing (20) includes a moveable component (26) disposed therein, the moveable component (26) operably extendable into the component (26) and retractable from the component (18) in response to the static pressure inside the component (18): and a sensor (50) disposed in the housing (20) and thermally protected from fluids inside the component (18), the sensor (50) is configured to enable the determination of the static pressure inside the component (14).
