PURPOSE: A broadcast receiving apparatus for displaying an advertisement during a channel zapping time and a method thereof are provided to show multimedia data instead a black screen during channel switching time. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting receiving module(210) receives a broadcasting signal, and a memory module(230) stores image data and meta data corresponding to the image data. If the change switching is performed, a control module(270) searches the meta data corresponding to the channel switching signal after analyzing a channel switching signal for the channel switching. The control module outputs the image data corresponding to the meta data.
