The machine (10) has a safety device with an endless conveyor belt (22) placed adjacent and parallel to another endless conveyor belt (16) such that a cutting unit (12) is placed between the belts. The former belt has blades (24) projected towards an exterior of the former belt and blocking a food product, when the food product is cut by the cutting unit, along a longitudinal direction opposite to a displacement direction of the former belt. A safety cover having an inverted U-shaped section is longitudinally extended above the belts and located on both sides of the cutting unit.
