PURPOSE: A method for preparing chiral gamma-lactol and chiral gamma-lactone in which beta site is substituted is provided to simplify process using an amine catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A chiral gamma-lactol in which beta site is substituted is performed by aryl boronic acid or aryl vinyl boronic acid to gamma-hydroxy alpha, beta-unsaturated aldehyde under the presence of chiral amine catalyst. The aryl boronic acid is denoted by chemical formula 1. The aryl vinyl boronic acid is denoted by chemical formula 2. The gamma-hydroxy alpha and beta-unsaturated aldehyde are denoted by chemical formula 3. The catalyst reaction is performed at 0-25 °C. The organic solvent is methylene chloride, benzene, diethyl ether, acetone, acetonitrile, toluene, or tetrahydrofuran.
