<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance productivity by improving processing accuracy and increasing processing speed in hemming work. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A hemming apparatus 10 includes: an anvil 3 fixed to an upper part of a base 1; a final bending punch 5a for applying hemming work to a workpiece W placed on the anvil 3 and a pre-bending punch 5b; and a hem holding member 5 arranged opposite to the anvil 3 and having the final bending punch 5a and the pre-bending punch 5b or the final bending punch 5a. The hemming apparatus 10 is provided with: a moving member 6 arranged to be movable in a vertical direction at the base 1 through a linear motion guide 6b; an inclination member 7 for supporting the hem holding member 5; a reciprocal drive device 4 for reciprocally moving the moving member 6 and the inclination member 7; a coupling pin 4e for freely turnably coupling the moving member 6 and the lower part of the inclination member 7; and a cam member 8 having a driver cam 8a arranged in a position opposite to the inclination member 7 and controlling the motion of the hem holding member 5 that engages with the engagement member 7c of the inclination member 7.
