<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the inflow to an intake passage via a PCV valve of lubricating oil stored in an oil pan. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Blow-by gas leaked to a crankcase 10 from a combustion chamber 2 is recirculated to the intake passage 3 via a gas outflow passage 13 having its one end connected to the side of the crankcase 10 and having the other end communicated with the intake passage 3. This gas outflow passage 13 is provided with the PCV valve 14 operating for opening-closing based on an opening command value calculated in response to an engine operation state for varying its gas flowing area, and a blow-by gas recirculating quantity Q is variably controlled based on opening of this PCV valve 14. While, the lubricating oil is stored in the oil pan 18 forming a lower part of the crankcase 10, and when a liquid level of this lubricating oil is higher than a predetermined value, the opening command value of the PCV valve 14 is decreasingly corrected so as to become a closing side value.
