[Class 75(i)] Burning apparatus for heavy oil comprises a combustion chamber C having a discharge nozzle A and into which air for combustion is supplied under pressure through a pipe F, extending into the chamber C, and surrounded by a vapourizing element D over the outer surface of which oil to be consumed is fed by gravity and vaporized by the heat of combustion, a part of the vaporized oil being mixed with air issuing from the pipe F into the space between the element D and the pipe F and then burnt. At start heavy oil is supplied through a pipe E and cotton waste soaked in paraffin is burnt within the chamber C. The air supplied through the pipe F passes partly through an orifice N in an end disc G, and partly through orifices O in the pipe F to induce the flame rearwardly through orifices M in the disc G to heat the vaporizing element D. The latter may be in the form of a tube coaxial with the pipe F and provided with a slot S, through which is discharged the air passed through the orifices O to mix with the oil vaporized on the outer surface of the tube, and to form a white hot flame at the nozzle A. |
