PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict the wasting of a fluid as much as possible when the ejection state of the fluid from a nozzle is not good, and to attain an image quality desired by a user. SOLUTION: The printer 20 sets, on the basis of input by the user, an allowable range as a range to carry out the allowed printing even when an image quality is degraded by a defective ejection nozzle. The printer carries out nozzle inspection. When an ejection defect is detected in the nozzle 23 from the result of the nozzle inspection, a point count (image quality value) in the defective ejection state of the nozzle 23 is calculated using the result of the nozzle inspection and weighting information 73a which is information associating weighting a defective ejection state and an image quality value as a printing result with each other. The allowed printing is performed without carrying out cleaning if the point count is within the allowable range.
