<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical transmitter and receiver which can reduce degradation of a high-speed electric signal and can reduce the mounting area on an external communication substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmitter and receiver includes a tunable laser module 2; an optical modulator 3 which outputs the light from the tunable laser module 2, while modulating; a light-receiving element 4 which receives an inputted optical signal; and a connector 5 which is connected electrically the external communication substrate, wherein the connector 5 and the external communication substrate are connected electrically and the optical transceiver is mounted on the external communication substrate. A rectangular base substrate 6a which is provided with the connector 5 and an elongated extension substrate 6b for mounting the optical modulator 3 and the light-receiving element 4 are formed integrally thus forming an L-shaped circuit board 6; the tunable laser module 2 is disposed in the missing portion of the L-shaped circuit board 6; and the connector 5 is formed so that the connection terminal thereof extends along the longitudinal direction of the circuit board 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
