METAMATERIAL ANTENNA USING SPIRAL LOADING AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS USING THE ANTENNA

PURPOSE: A metamaterial antenna and a communication device using the same are provided to obtain a low resonant frequency by controlling a reactance element of a CRLH-TL(Composite Right/Left Handed-Transmission Line) structure. CONSTITUTION: A radiation element(100) is formed on a dielectric substrate(110). The radiation element has a CRLH-TL structure. The radiation element is comprised of at least one unit cell. A unit cell of the radiation element includes a patch(130), a spiral load(140), and a via(150). The patch is formed on the upper layer of the dielectric layer. The spiral load is formed on the lower layer of a dielectric substrate. The via connects a patch and the spiral load. The resonant frequency of a radiation element is determined by the reactance component of CRLH-TL structure.
