PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal ketoiminate or diiminate complex containing copper, silver, gold, cobalt, ruthenium, rhodium, platinum, palladium, nickel, osmium or indium, and a method of manufacture and use of the same. SOLUTION: A Cu(I) ketoiminate complex, for example, Cu(MeC(O)CHC(NCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>OSiMe<SB>2</SB>(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>3</SB>))Me), is prepared by deprotonating aβ-ketoimine intermediate formed by the reaction of an amine and aβ-diketone compound, using one or more bases, or deprotonating aβ-diimine intermediate formed by the reaction of theβ-ketoimine intermediate and an amine or ammonia and then chelating Cu(I), to form aβ-ketoimine orβ-diimine complex respectively.
