PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planetary gear speed reducer superior in service life performance by restraining the occurrence of misalignment. SOLUTION: The planetary gear device (1) includes: a sun gear (5) having external teeth; a plurality of planet gears (7) having external teeth and meshing with the sun gear (5); a ring gear (9) having internal teeth and meshing with the planet gears (7); and a planet carrier (11) which supports a plurality of planet shafts (13) which are rotational axes of the plurality of planet gears (7) by an annular base plate (17) integrally formed at one-end sides (33) of the planet shafts (13) to support the one-end sides and an annular back plate (19) which supports other ends of the plurality of planet shafts, and relatively positions the plurality of planet gears. In the planet shafts (13) or the planet carrier (11), rigidity in the vicinity of the one end-side portions (33) of the planet shafts is set lower than rigidity in the vicinity of the other ends.
