<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional display device improved in efficiency in using the light of a backlight by obtaining an optical element that changes the display magnification of a two-dimensional image. <P>SOLUTION: The three-dimensional display device which provides a three-dimensional image by displaying a long-distance image that is an image at a long distance side, and a short-distance image that is an image at a short distance side as seen from an observer includes: an image display part DP which generates the long-distance image and the short-distance image and displays them alternately; and a magnification change means MD which changes the display magnification of the image displayed by the image display part DP in synchronization with the image display part DP. The magnification change means MD includes a first liquid crystal layer LX which is filled in a lens-like space formed so that X-direction cross sections are common, and a second liquid crystal layer LY which is filled in a lens-like space formed so that Y-direction cross sections perpendicular to an X direction are common. The first liquid crystal layer LX to which a voltage is applied changes a refractive index to make the short-distance image larger in an X direction than the long-distance image, and the second liquid crystal layer LY to which a voltage is applied changes a refractive index to make the short-distance image larger in a Y direction than the long-distance image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
