PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an artificial hair fiber, for solving such problems that gum deposits to be causes of remarkably lowering spinning stability with the lapse of time when melting and spinning the artificial hair fiber, and lowering die drool accumulate around a nozzle hole, and the die drool affect lowering of operability and surface luster of a product. SOLUTION: This method for producing the artificial hair fiber includes using a nozzle in which the ratio (L/D) of the land length (L) of the nozzle hole of a melting spinning nozzle to the circle-equivalent diameter (D) is 0.95-4.0, and the nozzle final installation thickness is 0.1-2 mm.
