<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element drive circuit that is stable and strong in noises during normal operation by making a target amount of light emission in a short time after power source charge, and to provide its method for correcting an amount of the light emission. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting element drive circuit is composed of a light emitting element LED1, a light receiving element PD1 for receiving light of the light emitting element, an amplifier AMP1 for amplifying a signal output from the light receiving element PD1, a microcomputer CPU1 for outputting an amount of a light emitting instruction by calculating the amount of the light emitting instruction to the light emitting element LED1 based on a signal amplified in the amplifier AMP1, and a storage device MEM1 for storing the target value of the amount of light emission.
