The sealing apparatus has an inner piston ring sealing structure and an outer piston ring sealing structure which is located closest to the bladed wheel. The outer piston ring sealing structure has a piston ring (5) whose external radius is greater than external radius of piston ring of inner piston ring sealing structure. An internal radius of piston ring of outer piston ring sealing structure is less than internal radius of piston ring of inner piston ring sealing structure. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) continuous flow machine; and (2) exhaust gas turbocharger.
