PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling acceleration are provided to control the acceleration of a vehicle by removing a dead area through a front sensor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling acceleration includes a first sensor(110) which senses a distance and a speed of a front vehicle by using a front sensor(101), a second sensor(120) which senses an obstacle within a preset angle range by using an auxiliary sensor(102), and a controller(130) which controls the acceleration of the vehicle based on the sensed distance, speed, and obstacle. A front sensor includes a radar sensor or a light radar sensor. An auxiliary sensor includes an ultrasonic sensor. |
