<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which maintains a gap of a desired degree after a laser welding, by imparting a step part to the lower portion of a sealing cap, by a distance between the sealing cap increased by the laser welding and a thrust plate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spindle motor includes a rotating shaft 140, which is equipped with the thrust plate 150 inserted and installed in an upside portion in an orthogonal direction; a sleeve 120 which stores the rotating shaft 140 and supports the same rotatably; a plate 110 which inserts and installs the sleeve 120 in a fixed fashion; and the sealing cap 170, which is attached firmly to the sleeve 120 by laser welding so as to confront the upper face of the thrust plate 150 and whose one part at least extends, making the step part at the thrust plate 150 side correspond to the degree transformed during the laser welding.
