PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having excellent sensitivity property, and to provide an image forming apparatus with the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor and the image forming apparatus have a photosensitive layer containing a binder resin, an electron transport agent, and a charge generator. The electron transport agent has at least one quinone derivative chosen from the group consisting of quinone derivatives expressed by general formula (1). R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are independent from each other, each being a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkoxy group, a 6-12C aryl group, a 7-12C aralkyl group, or a 3-10C cycloalkyl group. The aryl group, aralkyl group and cycloalkyl group may be substituted with 1-6C alkyl groups. Ar<SP>1</SP>is a 6-20C aryl group substituted with one or two nitro group, or a 3-20C heterocyclic group.
