A tamper-proof identification device, includes: a flexible, and non-stretchable band configured, dimensioned and fastenable at regions of its opposing ends to enclose and fit a body part of a wearer to identify the wearer; a flexible, electrically-conductive pathway carried by the band to define, when regions at the opposing ends of the band are fastened together to enclose and fit the body part, an electrically-conductive loop having first and second gaps therein; an electronic identification device carried by the band and electrically connected to the loop across the first gap; and a pair of electrical terminals carried by the band and spaced by the second gap, the pair of electrical terminals being electrically connected to the loop at the second gap for connection to a data processor, such that electrical communication may be established between the electronic identification chip and the data processor via the electrically-conductive loop when the data processor is connected to the pair of electrical terminals, but severing the band will interrupt the electrically-conductive loop and thereby prevent establishing electrical communication between the electronic identification chip and the data processor.
