PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update a software module more flexibly and easily than before. SOLUTION: An MFP 111 sums up the using frequency of the software module captured in itself and prepares function using frequency data 213. Also, the MFP 111 sets a basic policy when updating the software module as update setting information 215 on the basis of operation input by a user. A distribution server 101 distributes update information 202 for the software module together with the software module to be updated to the MFP 111. The MFP 111 collates the update information 202 received from the distribution server 101 and the function using frequency data 213 and the update setting information 215, and determines the timing of updating the software module from a collated result.
