PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water ink composition for ballpoint pens not excessively arising the ink viscosity of the ink after the water component in the ink is evaporated, therefore superior in a dry-up resistant property, good in a starting writing property at an initial time and after successively used, capable of maintaining a stable writing property without disadvantages such as blur or hanging of handwriting, keeping stable writing capacity and also keeping a good handwriting; and to provide a ballpoint pen containing the ink composition. SOLUTION: The aqueous ink composition for ball-point pens includes at least a dye, water, an endowing agent of a shearing reducing viscosity, an oligomer of N-vinyl-2-piperidone and an oligomer of N-vinyl-ε-caprolactam or the like.
