PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monopole antenna in which a radiation element and a ground plate are disposed on the same plane, and which can improve omnidirectivity thereof. SOLUTION: This monopole antenna has a structure in which the radiation element 12 and the ground plate 11 are disposed on the same plane, and a feeding point 14 to the radiation element 12 and a feeding point 13 to the ground plate 11 are disposed on a first straight line A traversing both the element and the plate. The monopole antenna is provided with a strip conductor 15 having one end connected to the feeding point 13 to the ground plate 11 and the other end opened, wherein the strip conductor 15 is disposed along the outer circumference of the radiation element 12, and a spacing between the strip conductor 15 and the radiation element 12 continuously becomes wider from the one end to the other end.
