<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which can be manufactured inexpensive wet process and is superior in light emission lifetime and high-temperature preservability, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element includes an anode, a cathode, and a host/dopant emission type light-emitting layer held between them, and the light emitting layer has therein a dopant depletion region, which spreads from an interface between the light emitting layer and an adjacent layer to a range of 10 to 30% of a layer thickness of the entire light emitting layer, and the organic electroluminescent element is manufactured by one-time wet film formation process.
