PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detector for reducing variation (errors) of a focus detection position by color temperature of a light source with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This focus detector includes a condensing lens arranged behind a scheduled focal plane of a photographing lens, a pair of separator lenses arranged behind the condensing lens at symmetric positions with respect to the meridional plane of the condensing lens, a separator mask having a pair of aperture diaphragms arranged on the entering side of the pair of separator lens, and a pair of focus detection sensors for re-imaging a subject image on the scheduled focal plane with the pair of separator lenses, respectively. The focus detector detects the focal position by detecting the relative displacement of the pair of images. A color temperature detection light emitting element for correcting the focal position detected by the focus detection sensors according to the color temperature of the subject is arranged at the position to which light that has transmitted through the condensing lens and is other than the light passing the aperture diaphragm comes.
