<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for collecting a cell or colony, which recovers a desired cell or colony from a cell group being cultured while maintaining a cell or colony culture environment, and also to provide a method for collecting the cell or colony. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for collecting the cell or colony includes a cylinder member 21 that inserts at least a tip 21a into the inside of a culture vessel in which cells are attached to inside wall faces and cultured, and a syringe pump 23 being a discharge mechanism for discharging a release liquid 30 for releasing the cells from the inside wall faces from the tip 21a and a suction mechanism for sucking the cells constituting the colony released by the release liquid 30 from the tip 21a into the inside of the cylinder member 21.
