<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal member capable of saving a space and exhibiting excellent fitting characteristics while good sealing performance is secured. <P>SOLUTION: The seal member 1 is a plate-shaped circular ring or a circular ring having a cross-sectional chevron shape, and an outside diameter is enlarged simultaneously with a reduction in an inside diameter when being compressed in an axial direction, and one or both of an inner periphery and an outer periphery is brought into close contact with sealed members 3 and 6, and sealing is performed.
