CERAMIC BACKING MATERIALS FOR ELECTRO-GAS ARC WELDING OF VERTICAL-UP TYPE

PURPOSE: A ceramic welding support for vertical-upward electro-gas arc welding is provided to reduce the total weight by employing an aluminium case and thereby facilitate the attachment/detachment of the support. CONSTITUTION: A ceramic welding support for vertical-upward electro-gas arc welding comprises glass fiber(11), a plurality of ceramic bodies(13), an aluminum case(15), and a protection member(17). The glass fiber produces slag for protecting a welding unit. The ceramic body comprises a bead groove(13a) formed opposite to the welding unit. The aluminum case covers the rest except the bead groove formed surface of the ceramic bodies. The protection member protects the ceramic bodies from an external physical impact or high temperature heat.
