<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more enhance output voltage in a solid oxide fuel cell by enhancing the characteristics of an air electrode containing a ceria compound. <P>SOLUTION: The solid oxide fuel cell includes an electrolyte 101 composed of zirconia material and a fuel electrode 102 formed on one surface of the electrolyte 101. The solid oxide fuel cell includes the air electrode 103 formed on the other surface of the electrolyte 101, and the air electrode 103 is composed of a first layer 103a on the electrolyte 101 side and a second layer 103b formed on the first layer 103a on the opposite side to the electrolyte 101. The first layer 103a is composed of Ce<SB>1-x-y</SB>Tb<SB>x</SB>Ln<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>. Wherein Ln is either one of Sm, Gd, and Y; 0.01≤x≤0.3; 0≤y≤0.3; and 0.05≤x+y≤0.3.
