<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device which has functions of magnetic field communication and electric field communication, and responds fast to either communication system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A switch 33 for switching a magnetic field communication unit 12 and an electric field communication unit 22 is switched via a magnetic flux sensor 31 according to whether a magnetic field having a prescribed value or larger exists. Hence, the switching is smooth and fast to respond to either of the magnetic field communication and electric field communication can be made. A connection of a coil electrode 11A is switched by a switch 41. Hence, the coil electrode 11A is used in common between the magnetic field communication unit 12 and electric field communication unit 22 to save on members and space.
