Synthesis of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline compound (I) involves reacting in polar solvent e.g. N-methylpyrrolidone, a benzene compound (II) with alkylamine at 140-240 (preferably 140-180) [deg] C, and pressure 10-30 (preferably 15-25) kg/cm 2>to form substituted perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline; reacting substituted perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline with halogenating agent e.g. chlorine to form polyhalogenated perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline; and dealkylating polyhalogenated perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline with mineral acid e.g. hydrobromic acid to form polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline. Synthesis of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline compound (I) involves reacting in polar solvent selected from N-methylpyrrolidone, diphenylsulfone, N,N-dimethylimidazolidinone and dimethylsulfone (preferably N-methyl pyrrolidone), a benzene compound of formula (II) with alkylamine (preferably monomethyl amine) at 140-240 (preferably 140-180)[deg] C, and pressure of 10-30 (preferably 15-25) kg/cm 2>to form substituted perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline; reacting substituted perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline with halogenating agent selected from chlorine, sulfuryl chloride, thionyl chloride and phosphorus pentachloride, to form polyhalogenated perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline; and dealkylating polyhalogenated perhaloalkyl-N-alkylaniline with mineral acid selected from hydrochloric acid and hydrobromic acid, to form polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline.
