In a development device (6), a developer carrier (3) supplies a developer to an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier (1) to develop the electrostatic latent image into a toner image. A bearing member (9) rotatably supports the developer carrier (3) axially. A biasing member (8) is provided on a side of the bearing member (9) opposite the image carrier (1) to apply a force to the bearing member (9) to move the bearing member (9) and the developer carrier (3) toward the image carrier (1).
