A handheld electronic device 100 comprises a substantially planar screen 10 and a tilt sensor and is configured to operate in a mapping mode when the angle between the substantially planar screen and the horizontal is in a predefined range. When in the mapping mode the location of the electronic device of at least one a pre-defined user 201-205 is displayed on the substantially planar screen. Preferably the handheld electronic device is configured to display status information about the electronic device of the pre-defined user. Status information may comprise what function the electronic device is performing and the power status of the electronic device. The function may comprise displaying videos or photographs, taking photographs, playing music or games, and acting as a telephone. The handheld electronic device may be configured to obtain information from a server as XML data forming an RSS feed. |
