<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an instrument capable of measuring the color fluctuation and color unevenness in an image, and to provide an image forming apparatus which is equipped with them. <P>SOLUTION: The method for measuring the density of the image includes a step for successively irradiating the solid image, which is formed on an image supporting medium using an arbitrary coloring material, with a plurality of lights having different wavelengths; a step for successively acquiring the two-dimensional diffused light image from the solid image; a step for successively irradiating the arbitrary halftone image, which is formed on the image supporting medium using the coloring material, with a plurality of lights having different wavelengths; a step for successively acquiring the two-dimensional diffused light image from the halftone image; a step for estimating the spectroscopic characteristics in the respective pixels of both of the two-dimensional diffused light image from the solid image and the two-dimensional diffused light image from the halftone image from the respective two-dimensional diffused light images; and a step for leading out the area ratio of the coloring material present in the imaging region of the respective pixels of the two-dimensional diffused light image of the halftone image from the spectroscopic characteristics in the respective pixels of the two-dimensional diffused light image of the solid image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
