<p>A latch is adapted to latch a first surface (3) of a first body to a second surface of a second body (5) when the first and second surfaces are in confronting relation. The latch comprises an engaging member (6) adapted for coupling to the first surface to extend therefrom, and a receiving member (4, 10) arranged to be coupled to the second surface. The engaging member is releasably attachable to the receiving member by means of frictional engagement therebetween when the engaging member is received within the receiving member. The receiving member (10) is movable to adjust the relative orientation of the engaging and receiving members, while the engaging member is within the receiving member, between a first position in which the engaging and receiving members are frictionally engaged and a second position in which they are not frictionally engaged, the engaging member being biased (16) towards the first position. In preferred embodiments, the receiving member is mounted within a housing within which it is pivotably moveable against the bias, the receiving member has a bore (14, C3) defining an axis, and the engaging member is frictionally engaged with the receiving member by an interference fit of a distal end portion of the engaging member within the bore as a result of misalignment of the axes of the bore and of the distal end portion.</p> |
