PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a belt-type continuously variable transmission capable of stably engaging a lock-up clutch without causing rapid dropping of engine speed. SOLUTION: A torque converter having the lock-up clutch and the belt-type continuously variable transmission are provided, and in engagement of the lock-up clutch, a target transmission input number of revolutions of the belt-type continuously variable transmission is highly corrected so as to finish complete engagement within a predetermined time while limiting a dropping ratio of engine speed.
