The element (10) has cover parts e.g. input part (12) and sheeting part (14), which are supported by corresponding energy absorption elements (30-34) during accidental force application. The energy absorption elements are formed as gel supporting elements, which are downwardly supported in a vehicle vertical direction (36). The gel supporting elements are held by a support, which comprises a sectional support contour corresponding to an outer contour of the gel supporting elements. The sheeting part is connected with the input part by formation of intermediate space (22-26). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a cover element e.g. front opening hood and bonnet, for a body of a motor vehicle i.e. passenger car.
