<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cleansing composition giving excellent comfortableness in application compared with conventional cleansing composition by improving formability of a combined salt of a cationized polymer and an anionic surfactant and residual property of dimethyl polysiloxane and getting quick frothing in hair shampooing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hair cleansing composition comprises (A) a cation-modified tamarind gum which is a cation-modified polysaccharide obtained by reacting tamarind gum with glycidyl trialkyl ammonium salt or a 3-halogeno-2-hydroxypropyl trialkyl ammonium salt and having a cation charge quantity derived from a group containing quaternary nitrogen of 0.1-3.0 meq/g, (B) an alkylsulfuric acid salt and/or a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sulfuric acid salt, (C) an ampholytic surfactant and (D) a silicone derivative.
