<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which allows improvement in position precision of a plurality of LED chips and facilitates exchange of respective LED chips. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes a substrate 2 having conductor patterns 23 and 23 for power supply to the plurality of LED chips 1, formed on one surface side, and a light-transmissive base 3 holding the respective LED chips 1 between the substrate 2 and it. The light-transmissive base 3 has a plurality of positioning recessed parts 31 in a hexagonal pyramid shape to position each pyramid 11, into which pyramids 11 of the respective LED chips 1 are inserted individually to be positioned, formed on the one surface opposed to the substrate. Further, bumps 30 and 30 fixed onto the conductor patterns 23 and 23 are brought into press contact with an anode electrode 17 and a cathode electrode 18 of an LED chip 1, which is then enabled to be replaced.
