METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALKALI-FREE GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkali-free glass which can be molded without causing devitrification on the glass even in production on an industrial scale.

SOLUTION: The method includes: a stage where a raw material is prepared so as to be an alkali-free glass having a composition of an SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3-RO system (RO denotes one or more kinds selected from MgO, CaO, BaO, SrO and ZnO) and having a strain point of≥670°C; a melting stage where the glass raw material is melted in a melting furnace using high zirconia-based refractories; a feeding stage where the molten glass is fed to a molding apparatus through a feed passage in which at least a part is formed of platinum or a platinum alloy; and a molding stage where the molten glass fed to the molding apparatus is molded into a prescribed shape.
