<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably hold a luminaire through prevention of damage when a lamp is installed, as to one for a fluorescent lamp, especially, a seamless fluorescent lamp. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The socket 300 of the luminaire for the fluorescent lamp is provided with a body 1 with a pair of conductive terminals 3a, 3b, a lamp-holder side cover insertion-coupled with the body 1 and equipped with a lamp holder face 10 in contact with a lamp base and an outer periphery face, and a lamp-base pin insertion groove formed on the lamp holder face of the lamp-holder side cover with its one end opened toward the outer periphery face for a lamp-base pin to be inserted from the outer periphery face substantially in parallel with the lamp holder face to be enabled to reach the pair of conductive terminals. The lamp-base pin insertion groove is so structured that the lamp holder side cover is made free to rotate with a lamp-base center line nearly as a center axis without changing positions of the pair of conductive terminals, and at the same time, the lamp base pin mounted on the lamp holder face can pass through the groove at rotation.
