The invention concerns a method for assignment of resources from a pool of resources to cells (C1-C8) or sectors of a communication network (CN) comprising base stations (BS1-BS8), wherein at least one base station (BS1-BS8) selects if possible a resource for usage in the cell (C1-C8) or the sector assigned to said at least one base station (BS1-BS8) that is different from the resources of neighboring cells or sectors, and if said at least one base station (BS1-BS8) has no resource selected or has the same resource as in a neighboring cell or sector selected, said at least one base station determines a reassignment of resources for the cell or sector assigned to said at least one base station (BS1-BS8) and for the neighboring cells or sectors with the aim, that no adjacent cells or sectors have the same resources, a base station and a communication network therefor.
