Disclosed is the use of an antagonist of a tumor-associated antigenic target 212 (TAT 212) polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:112 conjugated with a growth inhibitory agent or cytotoxic agent for inducing death of a cancer cell expressing said TAT 212 polypeptide, wherein the antagonist is a antibody or functional fragments thereof. In particular, the TAT 184 antagonist conjugate can be used to treat breast tumors. Also disclosed is a method for diagnosing a tumor in a mammal, comprising detecting the expression of TAT212.
