Disclosed is a method for manufacturing decahedral titanium oxide particles by introducing a reaction gas into a reaction tube having a partial double-tube structure, wherein a hollow inner tube is inserted into an upstream section of a hollow outer tube. The manufacturing method for decahedral titanium oxide particles is characterized in that the aforementioned reaction gas, which contains titanium tetrachloride, is introduced into the aforementioned hollow inner tube, and while a barrier gas containing no metal chloride is introduced between the aforementioned hollow inner tube and the aforementioned hollow outer tube, the aforementioned reaction gas and the aforementioned barrier gas are preheated upstream from the downstream end of the aforementioned hollow inner tube, the aforementioned reaction gas undergoes main heating in a region at a distance downstream from the downstream end of the aforementioned hollow inner tube, and the aforementioned titanium tetrachloride is pyrolized.
